SUMMARY:Highland Park Bird Hike -- Emphasis on New Birders!
DESCRIPTION:Saturday in the Park – A Stroll through Highland Park – 8:00am \nSpecial Invite:  Novice Birders or anyone wishing to “get their feet wet” with birds! \nLeader: David Frye (248-459-6783) Join us for a gentle walk through a beautiful local park in Old Southwest. We should see lots of familiar birds that we love\, as well as a surprise or two in this nicely wooded park area. The park has paved trails\, but the park is hilly and a bit uneven. Please wear sturdy shows and dress for the November weather! Meet in the parking lot on the north side of the park.  Directions: Heading from west bound Elm Ave SW turn onto southbound 5th St SW. The park is located 3 blocks south and the car park entrance is immediately beyond Washington Ave SW at a partial RH 45 deg turn onto Joel Richert Way.

SUMMARY:Jae Valley Park Field Trip
DESCRIPTION:22Nov2025 – Jae Park Bird Hike – Saturday 8:00am \nLeader: David Frye (248-459-6783)  Join us for a trip to a nearby park area that’s relatively under-birded.  It will be our first visit here for a while and we’re looking to rediscover a local park that can be productive for birds.  We’ll be looking for late fall migrants (incl. Yellow-Bellied Sapsuckers\, Dark-eyed Juncos\, White-throated Sparrows).  Directions: From Roanoke SW take Walnut Ave eastbound across the bridge (across I-581\, the railroad\, and the Roanoke River) turning left on Piedmont Rd. After one block\, turn right onto Riverland Rd SE and follow this route southeast until you reach the junction with Bennington St. Stay to the right and the route turns into Mount Pleasant Blvd and heads further southeast. This road (Route 116) goes straight and becomes Jae Valley Rd which gets you to the park entrance. Turn right into Jae Valley Park.
