It’s already underway! Our nearest Hawk Watch station is located at the Blue Ridge Parkway scenic turnout at Harvey’s Knob. Visitors are always welcome to join in and view the annual raptor migration spectacle. The action really starts after 10:00am, as the thermals develop.

Toni will take us on our 2nd session of butterfly walks at Greenfield Lake at the Botetourt Center. So, dial those binoculars for close-up viewing and enjoy these beautiful creatures. The Cherry Blossom Trail at Greenfield is mostly level for easy walking about 1-mile each way. Directions: Take Exit 150B on I-81 and follow signs for Route 220 N. Go about 4 miles and take a left at the entrance to the Greenfield Education and Training Center, across from the entrance to Ashley Plantation. Park in the second lot on the right.

The Lynchburg Bird Club will be asked to join us for this trip to Falling Creek Park. Join us for a morning walk exploring the varied habitats around the Bedford County Parks and Recreation grounds. We will meet in front of the main Parks and Recreation building at 8:00 am before heading out to bird the wooded trails, brushy edges, and riparian corridors.
